KnowledgeVis received a renewal award from the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR) to continue bringing innovative technology to use fighting cancer in a number of projects. KnowledgeVis has collaborated with FNLCR Scientists over several years, pioneering technology to improve the efficiency of pre-clinical cancer research. Nanoparticles were explored as potential future chemotherapy delivery vectors. AI models are being trained to bring insight from histopathology images. In microscopy, the locations of cells of particular types give scientists insight into the biological processes happening at the time the image was taken. KnowledgeVis is helping to bring computational tools and visualizations to illustrate aspects of cellular neighborhoods. Here, a heatmap is showing the relative number of cell antibody markers from immune cells gathered in a tissue subsection. After locating markers, the true phenotypes of cells is determined by which markers are visible superimposed in the images. Then network analysis can be performed to explore the organization of cellular neighborhoods.
